Jesse Varner Phillips born 1876 Baldwin County, Alabama
According to the Phillips family this is their lineage:
Zachariah C Phillips born 1810 AL died 1868 Baldwin County and Elizabeth Ricard 1810-1855. Their son was:
William Henry Harrison Phillips 1841-1883 who married Elizabeth Newell (1842-1876 ) 23 October 1870 in Baldwin County
Children:
Saphronia born 1873
Jesse Varner born 1876
A descendant has contacted me that my brother is matching her on FTDNA
As 3-5 cousin Matches on Chromosome 5 12.6 cM
Jesse Varner would be her Great Grandfather
I do not show as a match to her
Another of her cousins, Eunice, matches my brother 17 cM
The lady and I do match on Ancestry 20.6 cM
Her cousin Eunice matches me on FTDNA at16.8 cM
Two male Phillips descendants have taken the Y-DNA test
Neither match other Phillips descendants they should be matching.
They do, however, match two men surnamed Shipp
As discussion in the current family between those who have DNA tested and those who have not, someone said an older relative in 2008 told them he was uncertain but he thought Jesse’s mother may have been Zachariah’s sister or daughter, or at least she was a Phillips and his father may have been a Shipp.
My maternal Great Great Grandmother was Missouri Amanda Shipp, born in Georgia and buried in Hunt County, Texas
